Product Types

Overview

The Product Types section lets you define different product behaviors, such as whether they are stockable, require delivery, or support manufacturing. Product types control how products interact with inventory, billing, and other modules.

How to Create a Product Type

1. Go to Data Management → Product Types

2. Click Create Product Type

3. Fill in the product type details:

   Basic Information

   • Label (required) — Enter the product type name/label.
   • Description — Additional notes about the product type.

   Product Nature

   • Stockable — Choose if the product is stock-managed.
   • Stock Management — Enable or disable stock tracking.
   • Track Serial Numbers — Enable if serial number tracking is required.
   • Track Expiry Dates — Enable if products have an expiration.
   • Allow Negative Stock — Allow stock levels to go below zero.

   Billing & Delivery

   • Billing Method — Select between One Time or Recurring.
   • Recurring Period — Define billing cycle if recurring.
   • Requires Delivery — Indicate if delivery is needed.

   Manufacturing

   • Manufacturing Type — Choose None or a manufacturing mode.
   • Requires BOM — Enable if a Bill of Materials is required.
   • Production Lead Time (Days) — Enter estimated production time.

   Product Features

   • Supports Variants — Enable if product has variations (e.g., sizes, colors).
   • Supports Bundles — Enable if product can be bundled with others.

   Module Integration

   • POS Enabled — Allow product use in POS.
   • E-commerce Enabled — Allow product use in the online store.
   • Sales Enabled — Allow product use in sales orders.
   • Procurement Enabled — Allow product use in purchase orders.
   • Manufacturing Enabled — Allow product use in manufacturing.

4. Click Create Product Type to save, or Cancel to exit.

Actions

• Edit: Modify product type rules at any time.
• Delete: Remove unused or test product types.
• Assign: Link product types to specific products for consistent behavior.
