Payment Types
Define the payment methods offered on sales documents — type (cash, bank transfer, card, cheque, wallet, loyalty points, pay later), requirements, commission, POS settings, ledger and treasury accounts, numbering.
Payment Types are the methods your company accepts. Every payment form in Sales (invoices, orders, delivery notes, Payment Management, Point of Sale) proposes the active methods defined here, and each method decides what information is required (a cheque number, a bank name…), which ledger and treasury account receive the money, and whether a commission applies.

Create a payment type

Identity
Payment Method Name (for example Cash, Bank Transfer, Credit Card), a short Method Code (CASH, TRANSFER, CARD), a Description and the default Commission percentage.
Payment type
Choose the family: Cash, Bank transfer (bank payment), Card (card payment), Cheque / check (collectible instrument), Customer wallet and Loyalty points (prepaid / stored value), Pay later / credit, or Other. The family drives the default requirements below.
Method Requirements
Switches: Cash drawer, Bank account, Card processor, Reference number, Due date, Provider, Instrument tracking, Partial payment, Allow refund. A method that requires a reference number and a bank account asks for them in every payment form.
POS Settings
POS Enabled, Requires Receipt, POS Commission Rate, Minimum Amount, Maximum Amount (optional), Requires Approval — how the method behaves on Point of Sale terminals.
Accounts and status
Ledger Account (where the payment is posted) and Linked Treasury Account (cash or bank account that receives the money), then Active. Click Add.
The Payment Type Guidelines panel on the right of the drawer summarises these choices.
Logic and rules
- Only Active methods appear in payment forms; deactivate a method instead of deleting it to keep history intact.
- The type determines the instrument block of the payment form: bank and cheque types require Reference number and Bank name; cash does not.
- Commission is the default percentage proposed on each payment of this method; it can be overridden per payment (Override the method default — set to 0 for no commission).
- Customer wallet methods draw on the client wallet balance shown in payment forms; Loyalty points behave as stored value.
- Pay later / credit lets a sale be completed without immediate cash, creating a receivable to follow in the Balance Statement.
- Minimum / Maximum Amount and Requires Approval are enforced at the Point of Sale.
