Credit Note

Guide to creating and managing Credit Notes in RedERP.

Overview

A Credit Note reduces the amount a customer owes, usually due to product returns, pricing errors, or discounts issued after invoicing.

Purpose

  • Correct overcharges or errors
  • Issue refunds or future credits
  • Link to return transactions

Typical Workflow

Invoice → Return Note → Credit Note

Dashboard / List View

  • Credit Note Reference
  • Customer
  • Credit Date
  • Linked Invoice / Return
  • Status — Draft, Posted, Approved
  • Credit Amount

Create New Credit Note

  1. Go to Sales & Invoicing → Credit Notes → Create New
  2. Fill out the form:
FieldDescription
Credit Reference*Auto-generated identifier.
Customer*Choose affected client.
Credit Date*Date of issuance.
Linked Invoice / Return Note*Reference to original document.
Currency*Select applicable currency.
Ledger*Choose related accounting ledger.
RemarksOptional reason for credit.
  1. Add product or service lines with credited amounts.
  2. Save and Post to finalize.

Tips

  • Credit notes can offset future invoices or generate a refund.
  • Ensure linked invoice or return note references are accurate.
